The 5 Must-Visit Tourist Spots in Hatta, Dubai
Dubai has more to offer than light brown fine, powdery sand and clear, turquoise blue waters. If you will be visiting this city soon, include in your itinerary a place that you won’t find in the city’s main and busy area: Hatta.
Hatta is considered by locals as Dubai’s most beautiful hidden gem. It is the oldest village in Dubai as well.
This village is located at the foot of the Hajar Mountains. Because of this, the air here is cooler. The area is home to the top mountain resorts in the UAE and also enjoys a more laidback, calm atmosphere. Because of this, it is the perfect place to unwind and relax after trying out the different adrenaline-pumping activities in the heart of the city.
If you want to know why going on a side trip to Hatta should be on your itinerary, here are some of the great tourist spots you will find in this area:
1. Hatta Heritage Village
Start your tour of Hatta by visiting the Hatta Heritage Village.
The village is situated in the original Hatta Fort which still has its original turrets. When you visit this area, you will get a glimpse of the traditional Emirati lifestyle and culture from folklore to food.
This historic town has an old mosque and 30 structures which include reconstructed traditional houses and cottages. You will also find a number of records and relics that detail life in the past.
You don’t have to pay a fee to enter this cultural village. Additionally, all tours are self-guided which means you can take your time exploring every nook and cranny of this historic site.
2. Hatta Hill Park
The Hatta Hill Park is near the heritage village. So after exploring the village, you can head to this beautiful park.
Built in 2004, the park provides the locals some greenery, cooler air, and a place for entertainment. It is one of the biggest parks in Dubai which is great for barbecues and picnics. Additionally, there is a children’s playground which has a number of running tracks and sports fields.
The park also has a tower at the peak of a mountain which you can climb. From there, you will get an excellent bird’s eye view of the picturesque Hajar Mountain range and the village.
3. Hatta Dam
Hatta is slowly becoming a popular destination for water sports enthusiasts, thanks to the Hatta Dam.
The Hatta Lake, which is formed by the dam, is the venue for different water activities. These include:
- Kayaking (single or double)
- Water biking
- Pedal boating
- Riding the donut and tour boat
Whichever activity you want to try, you will be treated to the majestic views of the mountains and nearby areas while you are on the lake. You may also encounter some local birds and fishes while you’re on the water, so keep your eye out for them.
4. Hatta Mountain Bike Trail
Hatta is one of the few places in Dubai which is great for riding a bike. Because of this, the local municipality created the Hatta Mountain Bike Trail.
This bike trail will allow you to view firsthand and take you to the heart of various scenic pathways of the farmlands and hills. You will also see numerous picturesque wadis or valleys of riverbeds or small streams or dry beds of previously flowing streams while you are on the bike path.
There are different trails ranging from easy to difficult which means you choose a trail depending on your level of expertise in riding a bike and your endurance.
5. The World’s Biggest Inclined Mural
One of the newest attractions in Hatta, which has already broken a world record, is a mural of the UAE’s founding fathers HH Sheikh Zayed Al Nahyan and HH Sheikh Rashid Al Maktoum. The mural is painted along the Hatta Dam.
The 80m x 30m artwork was commissioned by the Government of Dubai Media Office and created in collaboration with Brand Dubai. It was painted by renowned German street artist Case Maclaim.
While you’re in the Hatta Dam, don’t forget to take a photo with this world record-breaking mural in the background. It’s one of the best souvenirs you can get from your trip to Hatta.
With all the amazing places to explore and things to do in Hatta, it is best to spend a night or two here.
To have a more fun and memorable stay in Hatta, book a room at a family-friendly boutique resort here. By doing so, you will also get to enjoy other activities such as swimming in the pools, playing a round or two of mini golf, or relaxing at the spa with the majestic Hajar Mountains in the background.
